APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION INTO SELA PCS

 

Sela Public Charter School will be accepting enrollment applications for new students in grades Pre-K3, Pre-K4, Kindergarten and grades 1-5 for the 2019-20SY.

With the new common application, families must rank order their school choices using the list of participating schools.  Each child will only receive one offer of admission in the lottery. If Sela PCS is your family’s first choice, you should rank order Sela PCS FIRST.

 

We encourage all prospective families to visit Sela PCS. Open Houses will take place on the following dates:

 

  • Sunday, December 15, 2019 10:00 am-12:00 noon (Hebrew Playdate)

  • Thursday, December 19, 2019, 5:30 pm-6:30 pm

  • Sunday, January, 12, 2020, 10:00 am-12:00 noon (Hebrew Playdate)

  • Saturday, January 25, 2020, 12:00 noon-2:00 pm

  • Tuesday, February 11, 2020, 10:00 am-11:00 am

  • Saturday, February 22, 2020 12:00 noon-2:00 pm

  • Wednesday, April 29, 2020 5:30 pm-6:30 pm

Sibling Preference:  If a sibling currently attends Sela or is admitted to Sela by lottery, additional sibling applicants are guaranteed a spot at Sela.  Siblings are automatically admitted and are not placed on the waiting list (except grades 3+).

 

When a parent/guardian accepts a spot at a new school through the lottery, you must prove your DC residency on or before May 1st. By proving residency in the new school, you also give up your right to return to your current school.

HOW TO REGISTER YOUR CHILD AT SELA PCS (NEW STUDENTS ONLY)
 

After gaining admission to Sela PCS via the common application and lottery process, you will be required to secure your child's seat at Sela by formally registering your child between Monday, April 1, 2019 and Friday, May 3, 2019.  This is the only way to guarantee your child's space at Sela. Some forms below are universal, others are specific to the school year and school.  The forms listed below are also available in the school's main office.

 

There are some special forms that will be required, but all families will be required to provide the following when registering their child:


          • 2019-2020 New Student Enrollment Form  (click here to complete form)

          • MSDC Seat Acceptance Form 2019-20  (click here to download form)
          • Student’s Original Birth Certificate
          • Government issued identification of parent or legal guardian
          • Proof of legal guardianship (if applicable)
          • Copy of Individualized Education Plan (IEP)/504 plan (if applicable)
          • Sela PCS Home Language Survey (click here to download form)
          • Proof of DC Residency  (click here to download form)
          • DC Child Physical & Oral Health Certificates

Completion of the MSDC Enrollment Form is required for all new families and serves as a release of records and acknowledges that you've given up your child's seat in your current school and you cannot enroll your child in more than one school at a time.

You can enroll your child Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8:00am-4:00pm and Wednesday 8:00-4:30pm. In addition, we will participate in Enrollment Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 9:00am-12:00pm. HOW TO RE-ENROLL YOUR CHILD AT SELA PCS (RETURNING SELA STUDENTS)

 

Current Sela families will be required to secure a child's seat at Sela by formally completing the registration process between April 1st and May 1st. This is the only way to guarantee your child's space at Sela.  Any re-enrollment not complete by May 1st may result in the forfeit of your child's space to a new student.

 

There are some special forms that will be required, but all families will be required to provide the following when registering their child:
